2021 Paul Harris FellowsJeffery A. Chunglo Director of Veterans' Services for the Town of Arlington Jeff has served as the Director of Veterans' Services for the Town of Arlington since February 2014. He is responsible for managing the Chapter 115 Veteran Benefit Program. This state program is managed on the local level, and provides varying levels of benefits for veterans, dependents, and surviving spouses. He also provides assistance filing applications for the service member Welcome Home Bonus and the state Veteran Annuity Program. Expenses related to the Chapter 115 Program are reimbursed a minimum of 75% to the town. In addition to providing assistance through the various state and federal programs, Jeff works closely with Arlington's Health and Human Services and the Council on Aging to investigate benefits and services that may be available on the local level. Some of his accomplishments have been: the establishment of a Veterans Council, designating Arlington as a "Purple Heart" Town, dedication of the Global War on Terrorism veteran burial lot at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, dedication of Arlington's POW/MIA display at the Town Hall, updating the memorial honoring the service of Richard Buzzell, and assisting in planning repatriation and burial services for local veterans. Jeff coordinates and conducts the annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies. Jeff served for 22 years in the Navy, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He served with Bravo Company, 1/25 Marines and deployed in 2003 for one year. He served as the Battalion Medical Chief with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 27 and deployed in 2008 for one year. He was hand-selected by the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery to serve as Senior Non-Commissioned Officer In-Charge of the Deployed Warrior Medical Management Center, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, deploying from March 2012 to October 2013. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7), Navy Unit Commendation Medal (2), Global War on Terrorism Medal as well as other personal and unit awards. He is the author and screenwriter of: The Rescue of Boxer 22, Based on Actual Events. He resides in Ashland with his wife Diane.
